As part of the Ministry for Primary Industries’ response to Mycoplasma bovis, Fonterra is helping to coordinate the milk testing programme in Southland and Otago.  The programme will involve testing three milk samples from every dairy farm. One sample will be taken from bulk milk as part of the regular sampling process at milk collection. You are asked to provide two milk samples, approximately 14 days apart, from any sick animals in your herd (e.g. animals with mastitis, lame and other sick cows). The testing programme will commence on or around 22 January.

Several meetings will be held over the next week (locations and dates below) over the next week to describe the programme in detail and to provide you with the kits necessary to participate in the programme.
